Anonymous asked: Hi Elaine,
I am a 3d animator living and working in Auckland. I got your contact details from a friend that recommend you. I am costing a new project where I am making a small game for the iOS. I'm looking for a splash page (Cover art) and sketches/character designs for game entities. The game itself will be low poly, simple shading, similar to toon shading. Are you available for work and what rate do you charge?

Hi, sorry for the late reply!

Is it possible for you to email me at me@elainetehart.com to discuss this further? I just realized my email add is no where to be found on my website. Just for the record, I’ll be in Auckland early next week!

Look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers,
Elaine

Completed this yesterday night before my bed time:D
I started out painting 1 side of the face and I was having a hard time making the other side of the face more proportionate.

And if you notice the 2nd rough painting, she looks a lot like Orochimaru from Naruto! So manly and scary!!

Anonymous asked: Did you have your parents' support to pursue illustration and animation?

Yeah! They gave me full support in pursuing what I like doing.
It wasn’t always like that and even now, I sometimes have to remind them that art is my passion. That I rather do something I love as my career, than doing something I’m not passionate about to earn a living.

I believe I am living a fulfilling life following my dreams:)

A quick and simple doodle!

Painting process!

Hello!
Just completed this artwork. I’m pretty happy with the outcome!Initially, it didn’t turn out the way I want and I was struggling with the colors.
I’ve always like using lots of different colors but never with saturated colors. It’s a lot of fun and at the same time, a lot of messing around and getting stuck.
Hope you guys like it:) Will post up the art process tomorrow!!

Here’s something I did awhile back, I made some changes here and there a few hours ago, adjusted the colors so its more saturated and made it look more finished:)

It was a fun experiment, I didn’t know how to shade b&w, the correct color values and overlaying the right colors..so there’s lots of playing around.
After completing it and getting the colors I wanted, I was an instant convert! Since then I almost always start with b&w, follow with an overlay of colors:)

Hello all!

Hope you all are doing well. I redid my portfolio today, and am pretty happy with how it turn out.

Didn’t really do much painting/drawing last week (feeling pretty guilty), spend most of my time reading Artist Market, looking and researching publishing companies listed in the book. I’ve only manage to look up 70% of the listing in the book and I still got another book (Illustrator’s Market) waiting for me to review=..=

Here is a sketch and an unfinished painting I did last week/this week:

I’ll update more often, I swear I double swear!XD

Hi everyone!
I missed out on blogging last week but for a good reason or at least for a good enough reason ;P
The boyfriend’s birthday took a week away from me:D
Been watching heaps of movies, both old and new. and YES believe it or not, last week was my 1st time watching Saving Private Ryan!

Movies that I find worth watching for entertainment/good storyline/suspense/creativity are:
The Expendables, Minority Report, Alice in Wonderland, Saving Private Ryan and my personal favourate - Robin Hood!
Okay. Enough about movies…
Did a portrait of Kim Hyung Joong for those wondering who the heck is that pretty guy on the top! Do apologies for the small thumbnail like size. It’s a snap shot of the artwork just before my photoshop crash. Was busy chatting with my sister online that I forgotten to save my work *sigh* -lesson learn.
Will try to update more this week to make up for last week’s absence.

Been feeling rather happy today, hooked to the song “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars. Such a lovely sound, I’m feeling beautiful just listening to it :D

Here’s the painting process:
